New year, new president, new taxes. Oy!
The shop survived the economic impact of a very dim Christmas shopping season. Our New Year’s Eve sale was a smash and really gave me some much needed encouragement to hang on and not entertain thoughts of throwing in the towel. I love this shop and have no plans to go anywhere but boy are these some trying times.
So, yeah -SCHIP. All I can say is at least the floor tax got axed. That would have put me and many many others in the industry completely out of business. It does mean that prices are going up everywhere. To keep up, I’ve simplified a few things and really found our niche here at Cumberland Cigar. Hopefully these changes will ensure a long life and bright future for the shop.
The humidor is going to start looking a little different. While I’ll still be carrying many classics such as Romeo Y Julieta, Montecristo, and H. Uppman I will be concentrating more on boutique cigars from smaller more independent cigar companies like Buccanero, Viaje and The New Orleans Cigar Factory. My goal is to carry a broad range of cigars that can’t just be found trhough the internet or catalogs. So, when you come to my shop you have the chance to try something truly new and unique.
We will be getting a lot more loose pipe tobacco and pipes in the coming months. I’ve already added a few new blends to the line I currently carry. Pipe tobacco can be a very ecconomical way to enjoy the pleasures of smoking. Of couse I’m still carrying a pretty decent selection of the Drew Estates Acid line. Infused cigars such as the very aromatic Acids are definitely an aquired taste. Judging by how fast they sell though it seems a lot of you really like them. In stock now are favorites like Deep Dish, Blondie, Kuba Kuba and the Tobak Especial in both light (very Kalua like) and dark (coffee) with the new special being for every 30 bucks in Acids you buy – you get a green “Che” hat for free.
As for other flavors:
I brew these up myself and they’ve been a hot ticket since the first jar of Rum Especial. Honduran long filler cigars naturally flavored in house with high quality spirits. Current flavors are:

Tequila
Rasberry
Peach
Ameretto
Congac
Cinnamon
Port
They are all 5 1/2 x 44 and sell for $3.25 each
